Physical objects, documented properly
RIPZ is sealed, but the material inside it is not a mystery in the abstract: it is drawn from a production list published by a third-party grading company, item by item, with quantities.
The record
Published, not described
The RIPZ production is documented as 1,000 pieces on a list published by ICG. DISME does not restate that list in vague language — the full transcription is on the RIPZ board.
Reading a holder
What certification actually tells you
Certified coins arrive sealed in a graded holder. Four things on it matter, and one common assumption does not hold.
The service
Who graded or authenticated the piece. DISME material carries ICG, NGC or PCGS certification where it is certified at all.
The grade
The condition assessment printed on the holder, made by the service and not by DISME.
The certification number
A unique identifier you can look up directly on the issuing service's own website, independently of anything shown here.
What it is not
A grade is documentation of condition. It is not a price, a valuation, an appraisal or a promise about what a piece will be worth later.
Authentication
Verified by someone other than us
Certification is presented as documentation, never as a value promise. Where a piece is graded, the service is named and the identifier is on the holder.

Provenance
Where a piece has been
A RIPZ pull can always be traced back to the documented release it came from, and the standout ones are kept on public record.
Documented release
The published production list stays public, so any piece can be matched back to the run it belongs to.
Certification lookup
Certified pieces carry a number that can be checked on the grading service's own site — no DISME account required.
The Vault
Exceptional pulls are entered into the Vault with the piece, the show it came out of and the clip that caught it.
